Before the Michael Bay era, it was easy to dismiss Independence Day director Roland Emmerich. But now, by comparison, he looks suspiciously like a real director, and this — his explosive, melodramatic exploration of the Shakespeare authorship question — is a thoroughly entertaining two hours’ (and ten minutes’) traffic on the screen.
