Fish and Cat

A number of college students have traveled to the Caspian region in order to participate in a kite-flying event during the Winter solstice. Next to their camp is a small hut occupied by three cooks who work at a nearby restaurant. The cooks are looking for some meat to cook and there’s no one around other than the young students. The film is based on a true story about a restaurant that served minced human flesh for food and is shot in a single take.
DIRECTOR’S VIEW:
Fish and Cat is a film about time. It is about how to make a perspective within time, and thereby, unhinging time. What fascinated me about making this film was the style of its execution: the insistence on a fictional narrative style within the bounds of single shot and the attempt to create fissures in time during that single shot. I chose to tell a true story in this film, a true story which nevertheless, resembles a nightmare.
