Presented by the Department of Philosophy and the Faculty of Arts and Science, along with the Faculty of Philosophy at Dominican University College. Tickets are $15 regular, and $10 for members of the Mayfair, students and seniors.

Rediscovering Jacques Ellul in the 21st Century is the main theme, and in particular his views on technology, freedom and the use of propaganda. A central focus has to do with communicating humanly in an age of technology and spin. Several renowned Ellul scholars who knew Ellul personally will talk about his work and field questions. This will be followed by a showing of a documentary film about Ellul. After a break the film by Godfrey Reggio and Philip Glass, “Visitors,” will be screened at 9:15 p.m.

Special thanks to the Technology, Society and Environment Studies at Carleton, the Centre on Values and Ethics, Sociology, French, Arthur Kroeger College, the College of the Humanities, the Carleton Library, the University of Ottawa’s Institute for Science, Society and Social Policy, Irene’s Pub, Octopus Books, the International Jacques Ellul Society and the Association Internationale Jacques Ellul.

The panel discussion is free, the screening of “Visitors” is $15 for non-members, and $10 for members of the Mayfair Theatre, students and seniors.
