Weekly Programming = Faster Bookings

Excited to announce our first premiere that we have been able to book nice and quick due to switching things over to weekly programming:  the great (and recent double Oscar nominee for Philomena) Steve Coogan brings his beloved character Alan Partridge to the big screen!

Alan Partridge premieres at the Mayfair on Friday April 4th and screens through Thursday April 10th.

Stay tuned for more announcements of other great bookings on the horizon!

Empire Awards – nominated for Best Comedy & Best British Film
London Critics Circle – nominated for Best Actor
NY Film Fest – nominated for Best Film

If this weekly programming allows you to get more of these small release films, then I’m already seeing the advantage. Hopefully you’ll also be able to get ‘Locke’ and ‘Enemy’, too. Those are two smaller movies coming out in the next while that I would love to see at the Mayfair.

Indeed.

With a weekly programming format we will be able to book both indie and mainstream movies faster and more frequently.

We missed out on a lot of great possibilities over the years. Often we would have everything puzzle pieced together just in time for some great movie to be offered to us. Then when we had a free window, sometimes that movie wasn’t available anymore.

A lot of exciting opportunities on the horizon by switching over to this method!

I went to ’12 Years a Slave’ last night and saw the trailer for ‘Enemy’ in front of it. Don’t know if my suggestion had anything to do with you guy obtaining this title, but I’m glad you’re showing it. Looking forward to seeing it at the Mayfair. Keep up the great programming!

Hi Wolfgang,

Enemy was on the radar before your suggestion…I think I first read about it via TIFF last September. Suggestions are always welcome though, always nice to know that there are patrons out there who want to see the smaller indie offerings.

Hi,
I’m excited to hear about the new programming. We’re really enjoying the line up so far. We’re really hoping that you’ll be showing “Afflicted” this month 🙂

Glad that you are enjoying the programming Maria! I’ve been excited about it too. Afflicted is on our radar, we hope we can wrangle it onto the Mayfair’s screen soon.

All right, just as long as I know further in advance when The Room is playing. I have to schedule those with friends. Can you make sure to post your monthly cult screenings with greater advance notice?

News of screenings of The Room will go up as soon as we have it puzzle-pieced into place. If you keep a casual eye on Facebook or Twitter or here or to posters on the wall at the theatre, you should have plenty of time to organize your bad movie watching fun.

As a reminder for you, this month Rocky Horror is April 12 and The Room is April 19.

Do not like the weekly programming. Miss seeing the monthly schedule to plan ahead to attend a movie!
Cannot print out entire schedule either — only the first half of each week will print on Chrome.

Hi Mary,

Sorry that you don’t like the weekly programming. We’ve had really great feedback from a lot of patrons who have enjoyed the pro’s of the new system vs the con of not being able to plan a month a head to see a movie.

The reason the switch happened is because it results in us being able to get a lot of movies that we would not have been able to get in the monthly programming grid. When having to plan up to 8 weeks in advance, often we would miss out on getting new films of all genres. This new system also allows for organizations and local filmmakers to more easily book the theatre for their films or events.

If you don’t like looking at the schedule online at various places or via newspapers, you can also print up a weekly program via the main page of our website or pick up a physical copy from the theatre.

Will you be showing ” Railway Men” soon?

I bet you mean The Railway Man, starring Colin Firth and Nicole Kidman, which we will be indeed be screening in the near future. We’ve had the trailer in rotation, and have the poster up currently under the ‘Coming Soon’ banner. Keep an eye out on the schedule in the next few weeks.
