Friday April 7th – Thursday April 13th!

Land Of Mine – In post-WW II Denmark, a group of young German POWs are forced to clear a beach of thousands of land mines under the watch of a Danish Sergeant who learns to appreciate their plight. Oscar nominee: Best Foreign Language Film!

The Lego Batman Movie – There are big changes brewing in Gotham. If Batman wants to save the city from the Joker’s hostile takeover, he may have to drop the lone vigilante thing, try to work with others and maybe, just maybe, learn to lighten up.

Kedi – Returning for a 2nd Week! Claiming no owners, hundreds of thousands of cats live between two worlds, neither wild nor tame – bringing joy and purpose to those people they choose to adopt. Cats are the mirrors to the people, allowing them to reflect on their lives in ways nothing else could.

David Lynch: The Art Life – Ottawa Premiere! The documentary infuses Lynch’s own art, music and early films, shining a light into the dark corners of his unique world, giving audiences a better understanding of the man and the artist. The premiere night marks an exciting new collaboration, with the first Collective Arts Brewing and Smoque Shack Movie Night!

I Am Not Your Negro – In 1979, James Baldwin wrote his agent describing his next project. The book was to be a personal account of the lives and assassinations of his close friends: Medgar Evers, Malcolm X and Martin Luther King, Jr. At the time of his death, he left behind only 30 completed pages of this manuscript. Filmmaker Raoul Peck envisions the book James Baldwin never finished.

The Void – Ottawa Premiere! An officer finds a blood-soaked figure limping down a deserted road. He rushes the young man to a hospital staffed by a skeleton crew, only to discover that people are transforming into something inhuman. He leads survivors on a hellish voyage into the subterranean depths of the hospital in a desperate bid to end the nightmare before it’s too late.

Eraserhead – A surreal nightmare of male paranoia. Our hero faces horrifying obstacles in meeting someone of the opposite sex, meeting her parents, and procreating. Produced while David Lynch was an AFI student, the film launched him as a talent admired by cinephiles and filmmakers worldwide. A special late late show of the Collective Arts Brewing and Smoque Shack Movie Night!
