Days of Heaven

The plot of Days of Heaven, in which a man (Richard Gere) convinces his lover (Brooke Adams) to marry a rich farmer for his fortune, sounds like typical film noir. But the director has something much larger in mind — and since he’s Terrence Malick, he achieves it, creating “one of the most shockingly beautiful films ever made.” (A.V. Club)
