Burden Of Dreams (the documentary about the making of Fitzcarraldo) screens on August 26 and 28!
Fitzcarraldo is a dreamer who plans to build an opera house in Iquitos, in the Peruvian Amazon, so, in order to finance his project, he embarks on an epic adventure to collect rubber, a very profitable product, in a remote and unexplored region of the rainforest.
The legendary epic from 4x Cannes Film Festival, Directors Guild of America, and Sundance Film Festival award winning director Werner Herzog!
Cannes Film Festival: Best Director award winner, Palme d’Or nominee!
San Sebastián International Film Festival: Best Director award winner!
German Film Awards: Outstanding Feature Film award winner, Best Lead Actor (Klaus Kinski) nominee!
4/4 Stars! “Fitzcarraldo is a movie in the great tradition of grandiose cinematic visions. Like Coppola’s Apocalypse Now or Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey, it is a quest film in which the hero’s quest is scarcely more mad than the filmmaker’s. Movies like this exist on a plane apart from ordinary films…it is still a film that I would not have missed for the world…there has never been another movie like it.” (Roger Ebert)
4/4 Stars! “so cinematically beautiful. Herzog’s triumph” (Deep Focus Review)
4/4 Stars! “Awesome, hypnotic storytelling, Fitzcarraldo finds this director working in top form” (Cinema Writer)
*Please take note that doors open 30 minutes before showtimes. We encourage people to arrive early. We have a small box office, a small candy bar, and a single-screen cinema, meaning that when most of an audience shows up a few minutes before showtime, it causes a bottleneck. If possible, we appreciate you arriving a little bit early to pick out your seat and get your popcorn. Thanks for your help!
