Power To The People

The Ottawa Renewable Energy Co-operative (OREC) and SMARTNet Alliance are partnering to bring you the Canadian premiere of the Dutch documentary Power to the People.  This event will also include a discussion on the current state of electricity generation in Ontario and future of community-owned power.

There is a big revolution going on in ‘the small’.  From energy to insurance, everything is small-scale and locally produced. In this short documentary, witness a revolutionary answer to the world of multinationals.  After the industrial and the digital revolution, we are now in the middle of an energy revolution.  More and more people are installing solar panels on their roofs or banding together to build a windmill.  In the process they are becoming less dependent on major energy suppliers.
