Qalat, an Amharic (Ethiopian) word equivalent to “Words”. An Ethiopian-Canadian movie produced independently in Toronto.

The film explores the complex journey of immigration, highlighting the personal and systemic challenges faced by the two friends. As they navigate the immigration process, they also confront personal struggles, testing their resilience and determination. Central to the narrative is the question of whether their deep-rooted friendship can withstand the pressures and trials they face in their new environment.

*This event is a rental. Tickets will be cash only if available on the day of the screening. Normal Mayfair prices and memberships do not apply.

*Please take note that doors open 30 minutes before showtimes. We encourage people to arrive early. We have a small box office, a small candy bar, and a single-screen cinema, meaning that when most of an audience shows up a few minutes before showtime, it causes a bottleneck. If possible, we appreciate you arriving a little bit early to pick out your seat and get your popcorn. Thanks for your help!
