The NORML Women’s Alliance of Canada is proud to present the Ottawa premiere of The Culture High
at the Mayfair Theatre, Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2014, 6:30pm
Q&A with producer Adam Scorgie to follow.
The Culture High is 1 of 134 features qualified to contend for this year’s Academy Awards.
The film is the follow up to The Union: The Business Behind Getting High, which examines the global cultural shift in drug policy, specifically Cannabis policy. Justifiably the Dark Horse in the feature documentary category, The Culture High was recently nominated for Best Documentary at the prestigious Warsaw Film Festival.
Determined to further examine the debate about marijuana legalization, international award-winning filmmaker, Adam Scorgie stepped outside of the traditional funding model with this film, using the crowdfunding site Kickstarter in order to move the film into production. Ultimately, the films production was supported by more than 3,500 backers all over the world to the tune of $240,000, making this follow-up truly the little engine that could.
The film has received rave reviews from critics and viewers alike.
The Culture High makes its case for a side in the marijuana debate that often goes unheard- New York Times.
“The Culture High is a mesmerizing experience for virtually any audience regardless of ones opinion about the issue” – Scott Essman at Below The Line
